Free standard residential installation offer - terms and conditions

Enable will install fibre broadband at residential addresses within our UFB Coverage Area for free until 31 December 2024, if the installation requirements fall within our standard Residential Installation Offer (further details below).

For some homes that were added to our UFB Coverage Area in 2017 or later, the offer applies until 31 December 2025. This includes homes in Mandeville, Clearwater, Tuahiwi and Tai Tapu as well as pockets of Prestons, Kainga, Rolleston, Hornby, Prebbleton, Halswell and Kennedy’s Bush. If you'd like some help to understand if your address is in any of these areas, please contact us - communications@enable.net.nz or you can use our address checker to determine if your home is recognised within our UFB Coverage Area.

If Enable is bringing fibre to your area as part of the Rural Capacity Upgrade (RCU) programme, then Enable will install your fibre broadband at a discounted rate. If you'd like some help to understand if your address is in any of these areas, please contact us - communications@enable.net.nz.

Standard Residential Installations

Our standard Residential Installation Offer is available to standard residential properties that have not been previously connected to fibre broadband. The offer includes:

  • Bringing fibre from the street to the outside wall of your home using the most appropriate of our installation methods, see the installation process here;
  • Reinstating all surfaces on a “like-for-like” basis (i.e. concrete where concrete has been used, grass seed where grass has been used and asphalt where asphalt has been used). Enable does not guarantee to match surface finish (e.g., colour, texture or pattern) and reinstatement will be limited to the area where the trench has been dug;
  • Installing the external termination point (ETP) on the outside wall of your home; and
  • Running a fibre cable from the location of the ETP to where an Enable or third-party Optical Network Terminal (ONT) will be installed inside your home.

Where we install an Enable ONT, the standard residential installation also includes:

  • Installing the ONT inside your home at a location agreed with you (e.g. close to the main computer);
  • Connecting your internet provider’s modem (if applicable);
  • The interception of home wiring (if required); and
  • Testing the service to ensure it’s up and running.

A standard installation includes a maximum of 200 metres of network from the street to the ETP on your outside wall. If the distance from the street to the ETP is more than 200 metres, you may need to contribute to the cost of installation. Check with your internet provider.

Use of an installation method other than the method proposed, moving our equipment once it has been installed, and completing installation work after the initial installation may incur charges. Please also note some internet providers may charge a connection fee.

Non-Standard Residential Installations

Large housing complexes and apartment buildings are non-standard residential properties. We may require a contribution from the property owner or owners to install communal fibre infrastructure within these complexes. Your internet provider can check with Enable whether your property is non-standard and whether a contribution will be required.
