Enable extends coverage to more Christchurch fringe suburbs under UFB2

Christchurch fibre network provider, Enable is extending its fibre broadband coverage to reach four additional high-density urban areas on the fringe of Christchurch under the Government’s Ultra-fast Broadband extension initiative (UFB2).

Enable CEO, Steve Fuller said, “Enable will be extending its fibre broadband network coverage area to include more parts of Preston, Hornby and Kainga, and Kennedys Bush under UFB2.”

“UFB2 provided an opportunity to evaluate our current coverage plans against Christchurch as a growing city and it was clear that there was an opportunity to extend our network to reach more families and businesses in our community.”

Enable will be extending its network by 482 premises, or around 600 additional potential customers – and will absorb this extra network build into its Year Seven deployment programme. This means these communities will have access to fibre broadband by December 2018 or before.

The largest new area is Kennedys Bush which accounts for approximately half of this additional coverage.

“We are particularly excited about delivering fibre broadband to this community,” said Mr Fuller.

“We have had a number of conversations with the Kennedys Bush Road Neighbourhood Association and individual residents over the years about providing fibre broadband to this community and with the main deployment progressing well it was timely to include this area - UFB2 has provided this opportunity.”
