We caught up with Brent Williamson, Network Infrastructure Manager at to find out about the curious minds behind Enable’s tech team who help keep our region connected.
“Do you like murder mysteries?” Brent asks. “If you do, you’d love networking. It’s Agatha Christie on steroids. You’ve got all this stuff to work through when something goes wrong, and you have to figure out why. Like all good whodunits, it’s never the one you suspect!”
This detective-like mindset is exactly what Brent looks for when building teams. Passion for technology is key along with a knack for problem-solving and curiosity about how things work. “We look for people who enjoy tackling complex challenges and finding simple solutions,” he says.
Brent’s team brings together a range of skills and experiences. Some are experts in fibre networks, making sure homes, schools and businesses in Christchurch stay connected. Others specialise in server management, application support and software platforms. His team is a blend of hardware and software, infrastructure and user experience.
Diversity is one of the team’s strengths. Brent shares that the team comes from around the world, bringing a wide range of experiences and ways of thinking. This global perspective is a major asset, offering fresh insights and approaches that help Enable stay at the cutting edge and ensuring our fibre network continues to meet the evolving needs of Christchurch homes, schools, and businesses.
