Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the way we work and at Enable, we’re embracing it with purpose. Our rollout of Microsoft CoPilot wasn’t just about adopting a new tool; it was about helping our people work smarter, faster and more creatively.
Rather than jumping in, we took a thoughtful and considered approach. Led by our People & Culture and IT teams, the rollout focused on education, collaboration and building confidence.
The goal? To make AI accessible and useful for everyone, not just tech experts.

“It was clear that AI would play a role in everyone’s working life moving forward and we wanted to encourage a mindset shift, one that sees AI as an exciting opportunity, not a technology to be feared,” says Matt Holstein, General Manager People & Culture.
A series of training sessions helped our team understand how to use CoPilot effectively, from creating better prompts to interpreting results critically. A shared prompt library encouraged peer learning, and today, CoPilot is part of everyday work for most of our team.
“We focused on how CoPilot could be used effectively, what guardrails were needed to protect our data, and how to ensure the tool added real value,” shares Craig Reynolds, IT Manager.
This approach reflects Enable’s broader commitment to responsible innovation. Just as our fibre network powers Christchurch’s connectivity, tools like CoPilot help our people stay informed and ready for what’s next.
We know AI isn’t the answer for everything. It still needs human oversight, judgment and creativity. But when introduced with care and clarity, it becomes a great tool to add to your kit.
