Christchurch fibre broadband provider, Enable Networks Limited, has announced that it has achieved B CorpTM certification and is pleased to be leading New Zealand’s telecommunications sector in doing so.
The B Corp certification, administered by the nonprofit, B LabTM, is evidence that Enable is meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency in factors from employee benefits to governance and the environment.
Local business, Enable, is committed to supporting the greater Christchurch region in providing high-quality fibre broadband and is an essential enabler of an economically and socially vibrant, connected, innovative, and globally competitive region.
Enable CEO Johnathan Eele says: “Becoming a Certified B CorporationTM is validation of the great work Enable does. It’s recognition of the continued commitment we have to high standards and practices that support social and environmental performance, ensuring a strong corporate governance structure that is accountable to all stakeholders, and that we always strive to do better.”
The journey to become B Corp certified has been rigorous and one that we started two years ago, Mr Eele says.
A Certified B Corporation is assessed across five categories: governance, workers, customers, community and the environment. To become certified companies must document the impact they have and undergo an independent verification process every three years to achieve and maintain certification.
Notably, Enable rated well in areas of worker flexibility, 100% of its employees being paid at least a living wage, and in its parental leave policies, providing 26 weeks fully paid parental leave for the primary caregiver.
Joining the B Corp Movement reflects the commitment Enable has across its business to be both commercially sound and to support its employees, but also to supporting social and environmental impacts.
