Enable urges Christchurch families to connect to fibre in time for the Rugby World Cup

Enable wants rugby-loving Christchurch families to act now and upgrade their internet service to Enable fibre broadband in time for the World Cup in September – to ensure they don’t miss out on a high-quality streaming experience.

There are less than four months to go until the first World Cup to be viewed in New Zealand primarily through internet streaming,” said Enable Chief Executive, Steve Fuller.

“We are very concerned that many Cantabrians have not realised that being able to watch all the rugby action from 20 September will depend on their broadband connection – as the games will be streamed on-line and not be available on Sky Sport.”

Enable wants to get the message out now that people should be checking the quality of their broadband services and looking to upgrade to fibre broadband as quickly as possible to ensure they have an ultra-fast, super-reliable broadband connection in time for the World Cup.

“We are already seeing a spike in fibre broadband orders as people make the switch to fibre and ensure they don’t have to worry about the quality and reliability of their connection,” said Mr Fuller.

“We only have about 10,000 fibre broadband connection appointments available between now and the tournament. There’s a real risk rugby fans will miss out on getting fibre broadband in time if they don’t order now.

“It’s quick and easy to get connected if a home is standalone and owned by the customer, or if there’s previously been a fibre connection at that home. In some cases – such as in rental properties or down long driveways – it can take a little longer to get a connection up and running.

“The best thing to do is contact your internet service provider immediately and order Enable fibre broadband. That way we can start working with you to ensure you are up and running before kick-off.”

Enable is currently booking up to 150 appointments a day – so the available appointments will begin to fill up quickly.

“The 87,000 households already connected to our network can have confidence that their Enable fibre broadband connection is designed to handle all the World Cup streaming action. We don’t want people to take a risk with their broadband connection when they can just switch to fibre broadband now,” said Mr Fuller.
